Setting in the early 19th century, England, Charles Dickens portrayed one part of England at that time. During that time, the British Empire was on top, for it had colonised the other countries. also the industrial revolution 1.0, people in the upper-class (Royal Family, Noble...) misunderstood that the country was modern and everyone lived happily, by not realise what had happened to the people in the lower class. As I knew, when this story was published for the first time, it was criticised too much by the people in the upper class. They did not believe what was shown in the story. However, when they found out what had happened, everything was changed since the government created the law to protect the children. Happy Children's Day!
The main ideas obtained from the text analysis
(All I could find)
1. The world is dreadful, not only for the children but for all of us especially people in the lower class
2. There is no true justice everywhere
3. Women are powerless
4. Don’t view something only by its surface
5. The consequences of avaricious
6. Love is so powerful and it can change a person’s life
7. The power of bloodline (blood will find blood itself)
8. City is not really better than the countryside
9. The bravery of the children even they are weak
10. Stop blaming the poor people or people in the lower class when the society is an unpleasant place (look at yourself first, before the other)

I did enjoy the prose, and the strange mix of characters that Dickens created. He showed London to be miserable and dirty. Oliver is a bit of a vapid character, but that gives more space for the side characters to add colour.
However, the book was too long. The second half meandered and drifted and by the end I was happy to get over the line. The story about Oliver's heritage came out of nowhere only so this character can finish his arc.
I still like Dickens, I just feel like I need a break.

I must have repressed the last third of this story - 4*
Who has not seen Oliver Twist?
I knew the story from the many times of watching the musical as it is endlessly repeated on the TV at this time of year. I've always wanted to actually read it but never had the full motivation to do so. Fast forward to today when I received an email from Audible telling me about the new Audible original version of Oliver Twist and it was free on the Plus Catalogue. I was there.
I genuinely have no recollection of the last third of this book. I mean the first two thirds were easy to recall but the last section - Nancy, the twist, Fagan... Yeah I don't remember that part.
I'm glad I finally read/listened to this story fully.
