Really enjoyed reading this to my ten year old daughter. I was surprised how much of the humor and social commentary she was able to grasp. A challenging read-aloud, but a lot of fun!

The first half of the book was really dramatic, I wished for a couple of times, that Twist Oliver should be dead so he doesn't have to suffer like this. But after he got to London, he became important to Fagin and Monks, and everybody else.
I think this novel is more like a satire than a children's book, because I just can't imagine how a young boy could survive such a harsh and unjust world. Of course, Dickens is a genius, I really liked his characters, and I'm glad I don't have to live in Twist Oliver's London.

The story turns around London in 1839 and is so fascinating. The writing is almost perfect, I really liked it. There were so many places that blown my mind.
What I really liked, is the message about caring and protecting the others who didn't have the same advantages as we had. Hopefully, I'd learn a lot with this book.
Thank you Charles, you were kinda poetic and so honest.

This is like a TV show that just keeps going and going, and gets crazier and more involved in side plots as it goes on and doesn't really make much sense but then the ending wraps (almost)everything up. I wish I could give a 3.5 rating

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. Dickens' writing it full of humour and there a dry wit throughout that I really enjoyed. It made the book feel very modern and I think it's a very accessible classic.

A bit sentimental and lurid for my taste but still impeccable prose

Last book read in 2022. I liked it. It was much darker and depressing than I had expected. Very simple mechanics in terms of story, with a lot of "Inherently Good" People vs "Inherently Bad" people. Some interesting criticisms about poverty, the law, and aid, though, especially for an adventure novel of its time.
