(3.5 stars) I wanted to love this book but I couldn’t. I will say I’m mildly fond of it, and glad to have read it, but I wasn’t blown away like I thought I would be. I really loved the mixed genres between fantasy and thriller set in a historic time period. But overall, the book felt like in a weird limbo between going either too slow or going too fast. I’m not sure if it would have been better had it been longer or if the story moved quicker. I did enjoy most of the characters, the visualisation, and the twists I didn’t quite see coming. It’s a charming story and worth a read if you’re looking for something a little bit different.
I'm conflicted about this book. The core story was an enchanting tale that had me up late at night devouring pages, and the primary five or six characters had great depth. That said, the contextual narrative and dozen or so secondary characters took away from the main story and made huge sections (particularly the first third of the book) feel sluggish and unnecessary. I think this could have been edited way down into a short story rather than a novel.
Beautifully and thoughtfully written story that manages to balance mystery, romance, and some of the most lovely characters I've ever encountered.
to był naprawdę bardzo dobrze spędzony czas, wyjątkowy klimat, historia która porywa nas z nurtem i zabiera w niebanalne rozwiniecie i rozwiązanie, bardzo polecam 4/5
