This book is the sixth and final book in the Mortal Instruments. be warned, this will discuss what happened, plus possibly earlier books so..
i recently read City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare when I was Africa. I can't tell you how many times I cried/screamed/died (figuratively) while reading. There were so many memorable parts and all of the characters had the funniest lines. I love this quote in the book
"Oh, God, the lovebirds,”Magnus said, pulling the pillow off his face. “I hate happy couples.”
I laughed so hard at this.
I don't really have much to say just I loved Alec character in this book with all of his snarky comments and his character really brought this book together. I didn't like him that much until this book. Simon and Isabelle relationship was so cute and I was laughing so hard when Simon got drunk on blood he drank and said this line
'“Isabelle!' he called again. 'Let down your raven hair!'"
'"Oh my God,' Clary muttered. 'There was something in that blood Raphael gave you, wasn't there? I'm going to kill him.”'
I also hated the part when Simon's memories are taken away by Sebastian's and Magnus's demon father. it's good they killed him. I WASNT READY FOR THAT HEARTBREAK IN MY LIFE. Simon without memorizing the shadow hunter world hurt.
I also felt no emotion when Jordan died because he wasn't the best character and I loved how Maia became so strong because of it *Go Pack Leader Maia*.
I also didn't like how the Shadowhunters didn't know for the longest time the Seelie Queen was against them like. Helloooo SHES NOT YOUR FRIEND.
Sebastian death scene was very dramatic and I actually felt sad when he died. he was alive for a little bit as Jonathan. He was so sweet as Jonathan since he didn't have any demon blood. I really feel like the ending was very WW1 since the Shadowhunters blamed the Seelie Queen for everything and had her to reparations. I feel like this will come back to bite the Shadowhunters in the future (Even Magnus saw it wasn't a good idea).

i think… this might just be the best “final” book of a series. or maybe thats the nostalgia talking.

I know I haven't been happy with this series so far but Oh. My. Soul. This book was amazing!! I finally felt like THIS is the Cassandra I know and love, there was something so much more authentic to this story than the rest of The Mortal Instruments books. I think the inclusion of the Carstairs and Blackthorns really opened up the world more, it introduced family members of characters I know and love and I definitely felt happy reading about them!
Sebastian really steps up in this book, he brought the villain and I was shook. I honestly cannot believe how psychotic he is and it literally gives me chills thinking about him! So absolutely brilliant! We also get so much more of Edom and I have to say that I really love being in the demon realms. I think that it really shows you a darker side to the world of Shadowhunters, like "this is real and this is terrible and now we have to do everything we can to save the world" kind of vibe. Not to mention everything that happened with Jem and Tessa and OMGosh, my soul is so happy after reading this book 😭🤍
The plot twists were really good, I honestly didn't see most of them coming because the TV show compared to the last 3 books in this series differed so much. The action was so brilliant! Magnus and Alex? My heart!! Meeting Asmodeus (Princes of Hell always for the win in my book). And I really loved that we finally get some Clary and Jace time where he isn't being possessed or stolen away, after 5 other books, we really needed that relationship development! This was a brilliant way to end the series and even though we left with a big question in the epilogue, it sort of continues in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, I promise!

To be honest, I felt like the series dragged on a bit too long. The last couple of books felt repetitive. However, I really liked the ending of this one. It somewhat redeemed the rest of this book.
