Two strong, lonely and set-in-their-ways men find someone who gets them, and they’re smart enough to know a good thing when they have it.
Plus things go boom, and dinosaurs.

Technically Baha and Jackson weren't enemies, but their romance had all the delicious I-hate-you-but-also-want-to-devour-you vibes that I love about those books. Baha was such a grumpy, untrusting bastard at times, and I loved watching Jackson poke and prod at him. The whole concept of their story, from the fossil retrieval mission to their fake personas aboard the cruise ship, was delightful to me, and despite this story getting serious at times it was also so much fun to read. Whether I was geeking out about dinosaur facts or reveling in the sexual tension between Jackson and Baha, their journey was utterly captivating. Watching them snipe at each other, bond with each other, and fight for justice together was thrilling, and I especially loved how evenly matched the two of them were. In human and prehistoric form, I couldn't tell you whether Jackson or Baha would come out on top, and there was something so enticing about knowing that these two had to willingly give up control to each other in bed. Even sweeter than I'd imagined was how Jackson and Baha's prehistoric forms courted each other. If you'd told me before reading this book that I would think a dinosaur offering up a dead shark to his mate was cute, I would have called you crazy, but that scene was surprisingly touching. By the time the fossil extraction was ready to take place, I was completely sold on the connection Jackson and Baha shared. Their romance was a bit of a whirlwind, but even in the midst of scheming and chaos, these two had each other's backs.

Me ha gustado más que el primero pero me da la sensación de que la presentación, nudo y desenlace es prácticamente la misma con otros personajes y algún añadido más.
All the stars for Baha and Jackson! I love the RELIC team and add in the mix of laid back Jackson who Baha disliked immediately was a delicious mix of humor and snark. I highly recommend this book and the first book in the series Smash & Grab for a light and laugh out loud romance.

These books just aren't long enough for my tastes and that's the only reason they aren't 5 stars. I loved this book as much as I loved the first one in the series. This book focuses on another RELIC agent, Baja, and a former fossil thief, Jackson. They team up to get a fossil back from a rich collector's auction and get to know one another in the process. There are some misunderstandings and miscommunications that lead to a few issues, but they make a good team. Witnessing the two falling for one another was delightful. I can't wait to devour more books by Maz Maddox.

Trapped on a cruise ship isn’t how Baha wants to spend his fake honeymoon, especially when his new “fiancé’s” vindictive, deadly ex-boyfriend is in charge of the boat. But Jackson—the brash, careless former fossil thief—is a ticket to the most valuable objects on this earth in Baha’s eyes: the original Spinosaurus holotype. Lost for decades, and thought to be destroyed in World War II, Baha will do whatever it takes to win the fossils, all whilst trying not to kill Jackson in the process. But it’s not the danger of being caught, tortured, or killed that scares Baha most; it’s navigating the treacherous waters of the fake relationship that threatens to pull him under—and for the first time, he’s terrified of sinking.
Despite this novel and the first (Smash & Grab) being on the shorter side (around 200 pages), Maddox does an incredible job of building the characters and story, with a dynamic central cast and great chemistry between the MMCs. Baha and Jackson are my favourite kind of grumpy/sunshine pairing: growly stoicism versus joyful chaos, and both of their internal dialogues made me laugh out loud. There was some miscommunication in the first half, which I don’t enjoy as a plot device, but I didn’t find it as frustrating as I have in the past; it did make sense from a character perspective in this instance, and the beginning of their unlikely alliance had just the right amount of enemies-to-lovers vibes to set it up well. This unique take on the shifter genre is great fun, but it’s also full of heart—I can’t wait to continue with book three!

I am so loving this series! Who knew I had a thing for dinosaur shifters. Grumpy Baja has met his match in flirty Jackson as they have to work together to recover a stolen fossil. Sniping comments, an overly flirtatious pervert with too much money, and a charming cowboy give this story the colorful flavor that keeps you reading. I cannot wait to read the next story of these crazy dinosaurs.
