The title does not lie! This one was a slowwww burn, but their romance was worth the wait!

I love books about cooking almost as much as I love books about books. And this was about writing a cookbook, so... *chef's kiss*

I loved the slow build of Ellie and Kieren's chemistry and their banter. (And we love a neuro-spicy mmc.) I loved some of the side characters. But dang, there were some plot points that made me really sad - to the point I almost stopped reading. This book addressed some really serious and important issues, and it's really more of a reflection on me that I read for escapism and I couldn't hang. :)

Overall this is a sweet read about overcoming trauma and adversity to chase what brings you joy, finding your safe person, and eating a lot of good food in the process. I think we're all in agreement when we beg for some recipes to be included in the final version!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for access to this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

This book was definitely what I needed to get out of my reading slump. I enjoyed this slow burn romance due to the development and history of Ellie and Kieran. This workplace romance begins almost like an enemies to lovers premise. Ellie and Kieran have to work together for the cookbook to capitalize on Kieran winning a cooking competition. As they work together, their chemistry starts to bloom. Even with their family drama and tribulations, they prosper.

I love that both main characters weren't your typical rom-com stars. Both flawed, beautiful, and carrying their own baggage. A captivating plot that made you think and feel. Well done.

I actually don’t remember what drew me to this book when I first saw it, but whatever it was I’m so happy it did. It is such a sweet opposites attract romance.
Kieran O’Neill and Ellie Wasserman have nothing in common. He’s 27, has ADHD, and is allergic to commitment and she’s 30, lives by a plan, and is a widow who is taking care of her in-laws. When Kieran’s agent gets him a book deal and Ellie is hired to ghostwrite it the two realize they are more prone to fighting than testing recipes.
I’m not a big fan of spicy bedroom scenes and while the door is definitely open, the spiciness is not over the top. I loved all of the characters and the beautiful descriptions of San Francisco and the food Ellie and Kieran made. This is Sarah Chamberlain’s first book and I hope it’s the first of many.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced copy of this. I’m sorry it took me so long to get to it. The Slowest Burn hit the shelves on September 24th.
