Highly enjoyable - but once again not scary for me. Wish i could find something that scares me

The first third of this novel was so vividly terrifying that I expected to see a ghost in MY hallway. Then the plot jumped off the rails. The ghost's motive was debunked, the family drama lost credibility, and the whole story was so ridiculous that I couldn't wait for the book to end.

I liked its rock n roll sensibility and creepy ghost. The characters are also very well realized. There are some truly terrifying moments near the start of the novel, when the reader is still making upin their head the nature of the supernatural monster that is confronting Judas.

"You want sympathy, go fuck James Taylor."

  • Discovery: Thrifted
  • Reading Format: Physical
  • Read Time: 4.5 Hours

Washed up musician who dates women half his age is haunted by the relative of a discarded lover.

Jude is a creepy loser and just because the other men in the book are arguably worse doesn't mean that Jude is a hero or even a likeable character since there is no evidence he has changed.
