The more I read, the less I believed my predictions about the book would come true. I started with wonder and thought a whirlwind romance was waiting for me ahead but I was left emotionally invested and devastated! Not what I expected and I am okay with that. What a story!

I don’t know how I feel about this author. It took some time to get used to her writing style, it felt very “tell, not show”. Dannie is sympathetic but not particularly likable or relatable, which made for an interesting, mostly engaging read. I expected to sob. I teared up but this did not rip my heart out as much as I expected. Does that make me cold? I’ve had loved ones die of cancer and it was definitely a sad book. I really think it’s the writing style. It felt like Happy Place by Emily Henry at some points but with more emotional distance from the characters.
Plus, the ending left me with more questions than answers. While I’m fine with a little ambiguity, I wanted more clarity on who she ends up with (sorry, I’m a romance reader first and foremost). I loved that the love story was truly between her and Bella and I thought their relationship through Bella’s cancer was executed beautifully. I’m giving it 4 stars for some of the quotes and the relationships but points off for the writing style.
I Dnf this book at 50% .. because I was waiting for them to fall in love .. I don't think is okay to describe a book like this will be an epic romance novel .. when is a story about friendship and cancer ..
When you false advertise a book without putting in the triggers, I think that you don't respect your readers.
Because my mother had cancer , my grandmother died because of cancer and guess what ?? If I want to read a book with this subject I want to be my choice !! Not to be lied to !!

Another example of an intriguing plot but bad resolution. Writing was very okay.
I've been entering Goodread's giveaways since I joined in, what, 2011? And this was my first win!
I read this book in 2 days and had so many feelings while reading:
Chapter 1: I relate to the protagonist
Chapter 2: OMG WHAT
Chapter 3: Oh, okay. But also WHAT.
A quarter of the way through: Hmmm okay now things are heating up.
Half-way through: Ok I don't know if I like the protagonist.
(One of the characters gets cancer, which, as a hypochondriac, I am now relating to this person.)
4 chapters to go: I swear to god this better not end how I think it's going to.
Ending: Okay... that's... good I guess.
What a rollercoaster ride this short book was. I was hoping it would be more of a bubble-gummy romance to take my mind off of the tragedies of the world, but it had it's own little tragedies in it.
I would recommend this book as a good read in and of itself, not for an escape.
