It was cute but the age gap was urgh. And I didn't like that she was 36, couldn't connect.

this book was pretty good despite some fatphobia in a remark that i think was supposed to be empowering ??? also includes a racist joke about gyps*** which was so unnecessary.  then the ending just  ruined any chance about a good rating — such a freaking shame. the fmc literally gets
sexually assaulted by her boss who she’s been in love with for 10 years and she just moves on from that in like 15 minutes. i get that everyone processes trauma differently but to have the fmc fuck the mmc literally RIGHT after getting sexually assaulted did not sit right with me. then on top of that, it comes out that michael has sexually assaulted other women at the company and it all got swept under the rug in order to preserve their publishing company. and like the fmc wasn’t even  upset about the way it was handled ??? so the ceo loses his job and that’s it ?? she signs and nda and CONTINUES to work for the company. for a book in which one of the main themes is female empowerment, the way this conflict was “resolved” is really disappointing. text
all of that aside tho … cameron u have my mf heart

Why did this suck sooooo much!!! Literally the first book in the series was pretty well done and this one is like. Here’s a girl who thinks she’s ugly when in reality every man actually in love with her! It’s just so unbelievable and also pining after her boss was cringe and also the fact that to get her promotion in the end she agreed to not talk about that awful situation with her weirdo boss??? She should have quit. This was just deeply cringe!!!!

Super sweet rom-com type story. This was NOT the type of story I thought I was going to get though. I adore this author, and have been reading her more recent books like Pen Pal and Queens and Monsters. So I was expecting a little more gritty. This one was delightful, just not what I was expecting. Love the banter between the two main characters, and always love when the female main character isn’t a skinny stereotypical beauty.

Such a sweet story. This series really is slow burn with only really one hot scene. I did want to know what happened to the pregnant teenager who accused Cam of sleeping with her. Love how Cam really got Joellen to love herself and believe that she is worth it after being put down for so long.
