the only book that i would read many times and never get bored of. it genuinely lifts up my mood whenever i decide to pick it up. at this point, i have lost count of how many times i went back to it and read a scene, or a passage or just the whole thing. also, after reading the acknowledgements and finding out what inspired the author to write this story made it all the more special. cam and joellen will always have a special place in my heart. j.t. geissinger’s most iconic couple and no one can change my mind. <3 the ice cream scene will be living forever in my head rent free.
“Because we’re friends.”
His laugh is short and bitter. “Your ability to lie to yourself is remarkable, lass.”
I’m hurt, defensive, and angered by his words and his tone, which indicate he thinks I’m a complete idiot. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He leans in closer, so close we’re nose to nose. He says with soft vehemence, “It means we’ll never be friends.”

“I’ll pretend he’s you!”i will never get over cameron mcgregor.
Cam stares at me. His jaw works. He shifts his weight in his chair, and the cat jumps off his lap, unsettled. “Come again?”
“Like you told me to do when we kissed, pretend you were him!”
“And did you?” he challenges quietly, his gaze steady on mine.’
It doesn’t have anything to do with the first book, I thought it’s a saga. First book was good this one is boring!

Ignore the trashy cover, it's barely relevant to the story! haha
It's Bridget Jone's Diary meets The Holiday and then add in a few other tropes for fun!
This was a fast-paced, slow burn romance. That will they-won't they, but she's in love with someone else. It had me laughing out loud at some of their quips, and her inner monologue was so Bridget Jones!

Very much adored this book! Better than the first in the series! I began reading this just after if I finished the first, Burn for You, so I didn’t read the back of the book or any of the premise. It was a VERY nice surprise when I learned Cam was 1) Scottish 2) a rugby player 3) a mountain 4) appreciates the female form in ALL forms. Then, you have a little she is older than he, and him falling first. Honestly don’t know if I could have asked for more!

This book was awesome. I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot through this one.
I absolutely adored Cameron. He was not only hot as hell, he was so very sweet and determined to make Joellen believe she’s beautiful.
I did like Joellen, but at times I was really frustrated with her because she was so clueless.
Overall, this is a great book that will melt your heart and I would recommend people who love slow burn romance books to read it.

52 Book Challenge Prompt: Food.
These subject matter prompt are great because they are so flexible. Home cooked meals does make up a key plot point in this book, so I think it counts.
If this had been a dual POV book it would have been a 5 star read for me. It look a little while to warm to the FMC but I think you're meant to as well. I also struggled seeing her as 36 years old, because there were some things she was incredibly naïve about for someone whole in her mid 30s.
Also, I read this one for a reading challenge that wanted me to read an enemies to lovers and I wouldn't say this is it, it's definitely enemies to friends to lovers and the friends to lover portion is the majority of the book. And unlike many friends to lovers books, the MMC is actually a really, really good friend.

1.5⭐️ I could not have been more on board for the first half of this book. The rest was a progressively difficult practice in not rage quitting.
To start with the good, Cameron McGregor. The Scottish professional rugby player none of us deserve. I was swooning over him from the start. Chapter 31 is pretty dang nice if you ask me. 🥵 That’s it. That’s the good.
Now for the bad, Joellen Bixby. And that's Joe-Ellen—not Jolene, the only name my brain will read. I get quite ranty when I dislike something so buckle up.
She is insecure, superficial, sheepish, moronic, cringe, and pathetic. This “old” woman of thirty-six has had absolutely no love life for ten years because she’s disgustingly “in love” with her boss, whom she has had almost zero interaction with over those ten years. TEN YEARS. When Cam presses, asking what she even knows about him, she lists facts she read on his company website bio. “He is such a kind and incredible man.” With less than ten pages remaining in the book, excluding the epilogue, she finally fucking realizes she’s in love with Cam. Every time you think you’ve reached that aha! moment, it’s snatched away. I get having a difficult time understanding why someone like Cam could like someone like you when you’re coming from a perspective of insecurity, but maybe don’t genuinely pursue someone else of a seemingly similar caliber while you figure it out. You know when she finally stops pursuing her boss? When he legitimately assaults her in the bathroom at the company Christmas party, forcing himself on her while making it clear it’s this or no promotion. Even then:
Cam: Just answer me this: Did he hurt you?
Joellen: Only my ego, and maybe my faith in humanity.
Are you fucking kidding me?! Insufferable! She is so oblivious to reality that she is asking for Cameron’s opinion on Michael until 75%, where she okays him to look at her emails with Michael, emails where Michael talks about jacking off thinking about her. And when Michael tells her in the same email that she got the promotion she was up for, she rejoices. She doesn’t think twice about that same exact email stating they can’t technically date because he is the CEO, that they’ll have to be careful, putting “both” of their jobs on the line. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.” Instead, Oh my god! My dreams are coming true! I have the man of my dreams AND my promotion! Cameron deserves so much better than this selfish, love-sick-for-another-man puppy.
I would like to read the version of this book where the gag-worthy boss-pining stops about 30% earlier, getting to Cam and Joellen around 50-60%. The version where this supposedly intelligent woman actually uses her brain for true character development. Not the version where Joellen Bixby takes the entire book to learn one man thinks she’s pretty.
‘Fart’ use count, including ‘gas’ instances: 31 🤢 This feels like a dedicated effort. I’m not here for it.

I really enjoyed this audio. It was such an engaging, entertaining and enjoyable experience.
An awesome story about not judging a person but their appearance only because Joleen misjudged her boss and her neighbor.
I knew this was a buckle up your seatbelt kind of novel because Jo’s interactions with Cameron were intense from the beginning. The chemistry was there, the banter was there and the narrator voice for Cameron nailed the sexy Scottish accent. Whenever a man and woman share meals like Cam and Jo, something is bound to pop off!
I loved the nosy old lady. She was a great addition considering Jo’s family really did a number on her self image. It was interesting that everyone assumed Cam’s lit was so great since he looked good and had money. No one knew what he had been through with his parents and how hard he worked to get where he was.
Great character development, great message on body image and self worth and really good sex scenes.
This one was another great addition to the series.
