When Chloe announced she was writing a holiday book you better believe I immediately requested an ARC, and I’m so happy that I did. The blurb gets this one right: You’ve Got Mail, but make it holiday, throw in forced proximity, plus a grumpy/ sunshine setup and you have this book. What more could you want from a Holiday romance (except maybe only one bed
This was cute and everything I expected it to be... cheesy and romantic. But I found it just a little too predictable for what I like in a book. I was able to basically guess the whole plot from the first couple chapters. It did however, make it an easy read
One sign of great writing (to me) is the ability to write a novella that feels and reads like a complete novel. Crafting characters and their journey in a short amount of pages without the romance coming across as insta-love, without using huge time jumps, flashbacks or continually recapping their history, takes skill. And let me tell you, Chloe Leise has this skill, in abundance. This story, that took me less than and hour and a half to read, felt like a story that will last a lifetime in my head.
This is an absolute must-read!!

Much like The Hating Game with a touch of Love on the Brain, but can still read it without obsessively comparing it. If you only have a few hours for a holiday read, this is a quick one to put you in the grumpyXsunshine holiday spirit.

A very cute, short, and sweet holiday read. Just what I needed after the marathon that was Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. I appreciated no third act break up and the representation of a neurodivergent FMC!

Honestly I will read anything Chloe Liese writes! Let me start by saying that I am not a Christmas junkie. Very often I have been called Ebeneezer Scrooge or the Grinch by my friends. So I’m not your typical holiday reader but I got to say I really enjoyed The Mistletoe Motive. The two main characters Gabby and Jonathan are definitely on episode sides of the fence when it comes to Christmas but are forced to work together to save their beloved bookstore. I’m getting some grinch representation in a holiday book! I read this in one sitting with a cup of tea and cozy on my couch and it was a perfect afternoon!

Cute novella. Not really enemies to lovers. Not spicy.
Lol. I was tossing up between this and Mrs Hudson's Christmas Canary as a cosy Christmas mystery for my holiday break, when the cover of this one got it over the line... Only, it's not a mystery at all. It's decidedly a holiday romance. With no mystery. Or motive it turns out. Just star crossed lovers, in a bookstore.
It took me way longer than it should have for me to realise.

A festive retelling of The Hating Game but just not for me.
