a short and sweet holiday romance filled with yearning looks, books, and rivalry? to god: when is it my turn. i didn’t read this book with a critical lens, i just wanted to have fun and giggle, and this book passed with flying colors. i wanted to tell at the two to just (fuck)ing get married already because the tension was too much for me. also, the autistic and diabetes representation was wonderful. i have family that have those conditions and seeing it represented in ways i have personally seen was satisfying.
yo, and that smut? not too explicit, but still pretty sweet. and an epilogue that was years ahead and was in jonathan’s pov? this is what epilogues are for. bless the author.

em dezembro de 2021 eu li essa história pela primeira vez e desde aquele momento eu soube que eu iria fazer essa releitura no novo ano.
em uma leitura cativante que me fez querer virar a noite lendo, chloe liese apresenta uma história emocionante com personagens que abraçam uma diversidade que eu nunca tinha tido a oportunidade de ler em outra obra literária — ao menos, não que eu me lembre nesse momento.
eu adorei a representividade do espectro austista nesse livro, ver as dificuldades que a gabby passa em sua vida diária por conta de suas limitações sociais e sensoriais é muito marcante, e fica ainda mais por saber que a própria autora passa por situações similares.
e a representatividade da diabetes por meio do jonathan é muito bem feita, tocando em algo muito pessoal pra mim, que tenho uma convivência muito próxima com a doença. além disso tudo, toda a personalidade dele foi criada com a intenção de roubar o seu coração, sendo ele um leitor atencioso — e ainda jogador de hockey.
e além de toda a construção dos personagens, o desenvolvimento do romance é muito bem feito, como era de se esperar. ter alguém apaixonado por você assim como o jonathan é apaixonado pela gabby, aumenta suas expectativas de romance — eu mesma já não aceito nada menos do que uma declaração de amor com citação de jane austen.
espero que, caso decida ler, você também se apaixone por esses dois e por todos os detalhes que tornam essa história tão especial.
