Well told story but at the same time found it a bit hollow. Maybe because I do not know enough about Indian history? Not sure but this isn't the first I've a little cold after reading his work.

I very much enjoyed this book. It was a delightful read that captures the whimsy of storytelling. Pampa Kampana was an interesting character to follow through two and a half centuries, and it was through her words that asks questions about what humanity can really mean.

Salman Rushdie must be protected at all costs.
The lore is rich and bountiful, but this novel becomes a slog of voiceless mantra.

2.5. I wanted this to be a book about Pampa Kampana and I enjoyed the parts that were about her. But much of it was about the men surrounding her and that is not how you write a feminist exploration of Indian epic poetry. I just don’t get the hype about this. I guess getting attacked gets you good press. Rushdie is a great writer but parts of this felt wooden, repetitive. The good parts were great but most of it was a slog.
Gave this book two separate goes. Ultimately felt too much like reading a holy scripture for my personal taste. Otherwise it was wonderful.
