Holy crab cakes! This is an awesome book possible spoilers below!
Like it was so suspenseful and emotional OMGOSH like Gordon Ellis was a creeper but I didn't expect the counsellors part in it and the stupid dog torturer and murderer! What like OMGOSH I should have seen who the killer was coming but I just didn't! And it wasn't one of them fairytale endings like most books where the couple gets back together but that made it better I mean it was a more realistic ending just because bad things happen doesn't mean that it will somehow magically make people closer again! I highly recommend this to any mystery novel fsns!!

"You try to understand human behavior. You try to explain it. Not me. I know we're smaller than gorillas, bigger than chimps, worse than both of them and, for all our rationality, our rules and laws, our baser drives are still straight out of the jungle."

This book was a raw, difficult read as it tackled some tough, but very real topics; it was definitely worth the time... I couldn't put the book down as it drew me in and kept you guessing until the end!

Michael Robotham is an author who I have recommended to many people - none have been disappointed yet!  In Bleed for Me, he draws you into difficult topics, but has a good balance so you're not always in those dark places. He is a brilliant writer that always seems to leave me mouth agape! -- atleast three times in this one... but I lost count!

"Jealousy is a terrible thing. I know all the psychological triggers. The fear of losing control, the fear of loss, the fear of abandonment, neglect and loneliness...But the most destructive thing about jealousy is that it kills what it values-the love you want to save won't survive the constraints of jealousy. There is no entitlement. Love is either equal or a tragedy."

There was so much eye rolling from me while reading it. Too much casual sexism, like describing a woman as three pregnancies past her ideal weight. What does that even mean? And why is that important information for a character who's only around for a single page? There was a whole lot of cringe like that, but other than that the book was pretty okay. Not great by any means, but it wasn't an awful mystery. I don't think I'll read anything else by this author unless it's unintentionally, but I don't regret this book. It was one of those thrillers that didn't stick with me apart from the sexism.

Honestly, looking back I can't remember why I gave it three stars instead of two, but I am loathe to change my ratings.

Another fine entry in the series featuring psychologist Joe O’Loughlin, as he tries to help his daughter's traumatized friend who may know something about her father's murder.

This is a first for me with regards to this author. The book wasn't quite what I expected but having said that, I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to all my friends. If I didn't have kids interrupting me I don't think I would have put it down. It was very well written and the story just flowed wonderfully weaving in and out of my expectations. I read a lot of these types of books and you get to a point where you know what to expect around the next curve but I didn't see this one ending the way it did. Of course after I read it, it totally made sense and it makes you wonder what clues you missed but it was great. Heart breaking at times because I'm a parent and I shared the impulses Joe had at times but a great story none the less.

Another close-to-home case for Joe - his daughter's best friend is accused of murdering her father - and as always he just can't stay out of it.
