Didn't tell me anything I didn't know, yet it was a good book to remind me of some of the reasons as to why we should read - and especially teach our kids.
What an inspiring read!!!
In this lovely little book Neil Gaiman tells us why art matters, why reading is important, and why you should "make good art!"
This is a must read, especially for the moments when you feel unmotivated or uninspired!
It's a treasure when an artist (of any creative form) gives you their advice. That's exactly what Neil Gaiman does, and that's exactly what this book is, a treasure!

Important, engaging and quick to read with fantastic illustrations.
I wish I could give this book an unlimited amount of stars on here. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author, but his love and support of the arts and libraries solidifies that standing. As a librarian, I appreciate that there are authors out there that freely speak openly and positively about libraries and their importance in the world. This is a compilation of speeches that Gaiman has given over the years, and his words are vitally important, especially in the world we live in today when art, creativity, and imagination are chastised and ridiculed as weakness. Our modern world was founded upon creativity and imagination, and our past is strongly written with it as well. I fully believe that our future depends upon those that are willing to let their voices be heard through the written word, art, etc. I believe that we as humans should always remember that art matters and that we should all make good art!
This felt like having Neil Gaiman as your cool uncle who comes over for dinner and gives you inspiring life advice and tells you life stories, with the added bonus of having these stories beautifully illustrated by Chris Riddell. Whats not love

Endearing and hopeful, but sadly, I did not enjoy Gaimans writing at all. I also would've loved to hear about his ideas in depth but instead, I felt like he was only scratching the surface of a few very interesting topics
