Maddie is so perfectly original and Grayson is so deliciously possessive! I honestly couldn’t decide which one I wanted more of! They play on an enemies to lovers but really they both knew this was going to be the one relationship that ends their single period forever. Maddie is strong but not without fault, and I feel like that’s what makes her so realistic! And Grayson’s “no kiss rule” is just a result of the damage done by his ex wife and dead best friend.
This book is highly recommended and so worth your time. I devoured it within a day! Enjoy Sunshine!

Detonate was my first book by Luna Mason and I am definitely coming back for more! This book starts in the middle of a mafia turf war and it is a wild, tumultuous ride from start to finish! Maddie and Grayson get along like oil & water, they’re fire and ice. I loved their snarky, quippy banter; the tension from wanting but resisting each other was palpable. Grayson is a former Marine and boxer-turned-mafia hitman. He’s the villain who lurks in the shadows and who villains fear. Maddie is a sweet, saucy, (mostly) innocent bombshell. When she finds herself drawn to his darkness, she can’t resist their combustible chemistry. Their will they/won’t they gave me a bit of whiplash early on, but I loved their gritty, genuine love story. This book explores dark themes, so check the TWs.
Maxine Mitchell is fantastic as Maddie in Detonate! Her portrayal of the demure dreamer whose inner hellcat is unleashed is phenomenal. Maxine embodied Maddie beautifully throughout her character arc; as the allure of the infuriating villain drew her into darkness, she also found her self-confidence and inner strength. Robert Hatchet is a newer-to-me narrator. He was amazing as the former hero-turned-morally grey mafia muscle. The growly “Sunshine” made me melt every time! If you like your enemies-to-lovers with lots of burn the world for her vibes, get Maddie and Grayson in your ears and get ready to swoon.
