The idea to put such a crime together with a mother`s love and how far she is willing to go to make sure her child is alright is absolutely crazy good.
While I had troubles getting through it, I persevered, and was rewarded. This book is very well written, and by the end you really know the characters, and understand what they have done to a point.
The only thing that really got me was the ending, but I will let all those who have yet to read it think it over once they are done; but I will say that it seemed a little...far-fetched, though it is possible.
Full of surprises. Full of sad but amazing moments.
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No

I found this on the bookshelf of the holiday home I was staying in for a couple of days, and so I borrowed it. I have liked every other Jodi Picoult novel that I've read.

This didn't disappoint me. What a dilemma for the mother!

I have been t hinking about sanity - quite how we mueasure it is a matter of curiosity. We can only ever be subjective in our understanding of what is sane and what is not. Circumstances (socially, culturally) make a huge difference in what is acceptable and what is not; likewise what is considered sane/rational, and what is "clearly" not.

Fascinating.

I always enjoy this author! This was a more difficult read because of the subject matter, though. I can't imagine being a parent and reading this. The story revolves around a family with a young boy who has been molested.

Typical of Picoult, you won't know how it ends until the last few pages.

As Chris & I talk about becoming parents some day, a story like this becomes more real. What would I do if someone was hurting my child? I'm not sure, but this book makes you think.

Another Jodi Picoult favorite on DNA testing and...pedophilia in Catholicism. She knows how to push peoples buttons but still present opposing viewpoints in her writing

This is the fourth Picoult book I've read and is one of the ones I've found most compelling. As usual, Picoult has created intense characters and touched on a an emotional issue, in this case, child molestation. My opinions danced all over the place as the book progressed; I once found myself saying "oh, it would have been more interesting if THIS had happened" but then retracting that thought later on. I did like the little twist in the last few pages -- my jaw literally dropped open, which is always a good sign.

**MILD SPOILERS BEYOND**

As usual with Picoult's books, I found the ending difficult to believe. If I ever commit a crime, I want it to be in Picoult's world since her main characters always seem to get away with it. I knew going into the book that Nina would somehow not wind up in jail for her crime, though, so I was prepared for it.

Wow! Yet again, Jodi Picoult tells a difficult story and makes the reader wonder what they would do. Plot twists. It was a page turner.

Nina is a prosecutor who learns that her 5 year old son, Nathaniel, has been sexually molested. She is devastated and angry and comes up with her own plan of how to serve justice, which shatters her family and community. This is a courtroom drama told from multiple perspectives. I’m always a fan of Jodi Picoult’s writing style, and this was no exception. I found the end to be a bit slow, but overall it was a good read.

What a heartbreaking book, as so many of Jodi Picoult books are. Very good read, I really wanted to skip to the end but held out and was glad I did.
