I don’t know about this one, campers. I love disturbing reads but this felt a little cartoonish at points. Maeve’s internal monologue had teen die-hard edgy vibes which were hard to take seriously. So the disturbing factor fell a little flat.

None of the characters were compelling for me. I felt like it relied on its similarities and allusions to Bataille and American Psycho too much, like it needed more room to develop its own unique character.

Overall I found it a little boring.

This book was an oddity that I couldn’t put down. What a peculiar and unpredictable read. I would put this book under the same category of Tender is the Flesh and Suture. Horror books that are one of a kind and stick with you.

Dark, gross, and very unhinged. This one made me so uncomfortable, and not in a good way. It reminded me of Terrifier and I really disliked watching Terrifier. It was kind of just gore porn. Not for me, but I can see how people like it. Very well written though.
