I found this book so boring, I really couldn’t stand the FMC, she’s so annoying. It’s weird because in the other instalments of the series I liked both characters but in their own book they are just so peevish

Listened to this one. Was quite slow and not like a regular Tessa Dare. Don’t recommend.

I found this one to feel like a slog. The characters weren’t my favorite, they didn’t feel real for over half the book or likeable. I enjoyed the sex scenes, but they were the best part. The end was okay, but honestly probably not worth a read.

My review for the entire Wanton Dairymaid trilogy can be found here: http://wp.me/p18lIL-1q5

This was my least favorite in the trilogy, and I think it probably had to do with the fact that I didn't connect with Isabel and Toby's love story. Isabel's motives for wanting to marry a man of influence are commendable. Her desire to help every charity and have a husband that can make political changes wasn't what bothered me about her. In fact, I want to hug her for all of her charitable notions, it shows that she has a good heart and deep down is a good person. It was her need to reach an unattainable level of perfection that at times made her character read as very cold and unemotional. These moments of coldness didn't allow me to connect with her as a character. thus leaving me unable to ever really root for her love connection with Toby. Toby, on the other hand, was a different story. I really wanted to smack some sense into him at times for his inability to stand up to Isabel and tell her the truth. Other than this disconnect with the main characters, I enjoyed the opportunities this novel afforded in revisiting the characters of the first two in the trilogy.

2 clueless main characters = 2 star read

this one at least kept me interested to the end, unlike the second book in the series. but it was also worse??

i really wanted to like toby, and i initially really liked isabel. but the more the story went on the more irritated i got at the lack of communication. i get ppl were more private with their childhood trauma & emotions or whateva but the constant lack of understanding between the two of them was pretty unbearable to read about.

toby was constantly putting isabel on a pedestal that she really didn't want to be on. isabel was trying to make toby get into government which was really not what he wanted. they were both immature af.

and i get it's ye olden days but, not to be crass, if it's not a name you can scream you should not name ur hero that.

toby

i rest my case.
