I honestly expected more from Holly Black..

This book is what I would call “the black sheep in the family”. This had so much potential to be a wholesome sequel to the Cruel Prince trilogy, but unfortunately was this chance missed.

what did I like? Oak’s character! I liked his honey tongue, his act of being the innocent boy and manipulative side but it was wasted in the books. I also liked of course Jude and Carden back :)

What did I not like? first of all.. Suren. She just feels incomplete to me. Many things she said but then did, did not match and often made no sense to the plot. I always had to fight my boredom when she appeared.

The plot all in one was something made up in a few minutes. (I really love Holly and her books) but this was all just throwing stuff in and writing it out without any depth. She went for the betrayal trope once again and wrote the whole book around it. All they did was talk and betray each other because of the talking. ENOUGHHH.

At least I was able to see the old fam back again. Jude, Cardan, Madoc, Oriana, Ghost, Taryn and even Oak have my heart (leander too) I hope for the next book (which is probably about nicasia) to be better.
