Fantastic. I loved it. Please don't be put off with the blurb and people saying its like the Psycop series. It isn't. The only common things are that a cop sees ghosts. Lots of authors have used that trope. This is a well written, sharply plotted story and I really did not want it to end. I do hope there is another book with these characters. The audiobook narration was fab too.

WOW! I am so impressed right now! It was a first read by a new author and I never thought that it'd turn out to be such an amazing book. I wanted something light and funny, but this was just something else! As corny as the idea seemed at first, I absolutely LOVED what Ms. Harmon did with it.

I’ve never been a big fan of second-chance romances, either in books or movies. Well, color me surprised by how much I liked this one. Rain (and I’m STILL cracking up at that conversation with his sister Sky where they were debating the possibility of their parents naming a hypothetical third child Earth) and Danny were just so perfect for each other. It was clear from the start that getting back together wouldn’t be easy, but it was just as obvious that they were still in love. The UST between the two of them was so delicious, but it had nothing on the actual sex. Whew! Hands down, those are some of the hottest sex scenes I’ve ever read.

The mystery was so well written it blew my mind; for the longest time, I had no idea who the culprit was. The supernatural angle was different from my usual reads but still amazing, and I loved how Rain began to accept his abilities in the end. He was the perfect narrator for me, too - smartass and sarcastic, and damn funny. I’ve no idea how many times I laughed out loud while reading this book, but it was A LOT.
And how perfect was that ending! A HEA is kind of expected in this kind of story, but it was just so sweet. Imo, it left some room for a continuation, if the author decided to make this into a series instead of a standalone (YES, PLEASE! I want more Rain & Danny goodness!), but it was satisfying nonetheless. A big stamp of approval from me.

I'm not the biggest fan of second-chance romance but I enjoyed it a lot. It was snarky and very sexy!
The only thing that bothered me a bit was that all Rain seemed to remember of his 4yrs relationship with Danny was the sex. I felt like there was a confusion between love and lust, like Rain loved and is in love with Danny because he was and is in lust with him. So all I have seen of their relationship was the sex aspect and not necessarily the romantic aspect. Don't get me wrong, the sex scenes were good but I would have liked to see the romantic side more developed than one or two scenes here and there.

For the first time in a long time I read a paranormal romance and it was great. I loved the mix of the paranormal elements, the investigation, the humour and the second chance love story in this book.
I have so far read books #1-4 in the series and can recommend the first three books, the plot in the fourth one wasn't ideal for me.

Well... This was disappointing.
I love my mysteries! I love delving into a book to find out who the "bad guy" is, to follow the clues and twists and turns to get to the bottom of things, and I fist-pump the air when I can figure it out before the book ends.
I liked the idea of the book, the characters - especially Rain - and the snarky, humorous banter between the MCs. This saved the book at least somewhat for me and makes me consider reading the next one if this becomes a series.
But the things that didn't work for me overshadowed the whole book:
The timeline of the case the MCs were working and important details surrounding the mystery were faulty and it was very distracting because I had to re-read several pages/passages to make sure I didn't miss anything:
Things that are of importance to the story were dropped without explanation or written off with just a few sentences. For me the three most important things were:
Other editing issues like the sequence of actions (example: stubbing out a cigarette and then taking another slow drag without lightening a new cigarette) were not as glaringly obvious or numerous but still distracting when I caught them.
If you love mysteries and have as much fun as I have trying to figure things out, I don't recommend this book. But if the mystery aspect of a book isn't that important to you and you are more interested in snarky banter between two interesting MCs, you might like this book more than I did.

The timeline of the case the MCs were working and important details surrounding the mystery were faulty and it was very distracting because I had to re-read several pages/passages to make sure I didn't miss anything:
- Amy was missing for 5 years but one witness remembers a detail about her from only 1 year ago
- the necklace and how it ended up where it was found didn't add up:Spoiler
The way it was written, Amy and Jenna broke up before Amy drove to Brock's house where she left her purse. Brock later buried the purse after Amy went missing. When they found the purse, Jenna's necklace was found in it. But it was said that Jenna's mother took the necklace from Jenna after she and Amy broke up and then followed Amy to Brock's house. There is no way Jenna's mother had access to Amy's purse or could have given Amy the necklace before she left her purse in Brook's house.
- The MCs had been together for 4 years followed by 3 years of being separated. One MC (or both of them - I can't be sure about this because there weren't enough details given about their backstory) worked as a police officer at the time Amy went missing (5 years ago) and she went missing in their hometown or close to it. Add to that that one witness is related to one of the MCs and I have a hard time believing that they just now heard about the case for the first time. But the way Rain especially approached the case and thought about it, you don't get the feeling that he already knew about it.
Things that are of importance to the story were dropped without explanation or written off with just a few sentences. For me the three most important things were:
- Rain seeing ghosts: Since when did he see them? For only a few years or longer? If him seeing ghosts was the main part of the reason, I'd have liked more information about it.Spoiler
why he left Danny
- Anna: She was just dropped. I'd hoped the MCs would talk about her, bring her story to a conclusion but it never happened.
- Ethan: He was an important character in the book but the execution of his wish was over and done with in only a few sentences.
Other editing issues like the sequence of actions (example: stubbing out a cigarette and then taking another slow drag without lightening a new cigarette) were not as glaringly obvious or numerous but still distracting when I caught them.
