I wanted to love this book but found it far too predictable and saccharine sweet. Many other WWII books I would recommend over this.

Inspired by the true story of the few bookshops to survive the Blitz during WWII, this was a captivating, heartwarming, heartbreaking and beautiful book to listen to. It's a story of love, loss, grief, friendships, survival, hope, courage, sacrifice, starting to read and loving books, communities coming together, supporting each other through very hard times, resilience...
I absolutely loved listening to this book and will try and get a copy from my local library as soon as it is available (it's a very popular book) so that I can read the paper version.
The author has a new book coming out in July and I cannot wait.

I found the writing in this book so grating. I liked the setting of London during the Blitz, I had not read a book in that setting before. I found that interesting. But the author's writing was repetitive and heavy-handed and honestly not that good.
Oh, and what person goes from not reading to The Count of Monte Cristo???
