Starts a bit slow but I do love how this book frames WWII from the perspective of a bookshop! And the way the main character learns to love reading is fantastic!

The Last Bookshop in London is a standalone novel by Madeline Martin.

*Falling in love through letters

*WWII setting

*Bookshop storytimes

I’m not usually a historical fiction fan but I chose this book as part of the Era Explorer achievement through a Goodreads reading challenge.

After relocating to London after losing her parents, Grace finds herself working at a rundown bookshop in the height of WWII. Grace is a sweet, and at some times naive, young lady that has never had any challenges in her life.

There is a lot of historical information about the events surrounding the war, a sweet friendship between the FMC and the bookshop owner, and a blossoming love story that is tested due to all men being called to serve their country.

Format: Libby audiobook

3.75 stars. I’m a sucker for books about bookshops. This one has the right amount of heart and substance.

Great book with a little insight of how it was to survive in London during WWII. I liked it.
