This is an extremely well written story with thick atmosphere and decent characters.
It's much more enchanting if you read it in one sitting, which is really not that hard to do, especially once you get through the first few chapters and things start to ramp up.

A bit pretentious in its diction and a slog to read. The story had a lot of potential and some parts were genuinely great, but some sequences and the ending was a bit cheap. For such a short book this felt very drawn out, and tried to fit way too much story into a small novel. Classic, yes, but not worthy of the Great American Novel.
