Good read for the beach - fast thriller, good detail, realistic characters.
This was the first book in the Rizzoli & Isle series that the TV show was premised on. The story was compelling and well-written, but Jane Rizzoli's character seemed secondary to that of the male police officers in the book. Maura Isles was not in this book at all.
Tess Gerritsen foi certeira em adicionar descrições médicas e anatômicas nessa história, um pouco confusas no início, é claro, mas essa adição tornou os casos ainda mais sombrios e pesados, então é um livro que não recomendo para todo mundo. E apesar da responsabilidade da autora, tortura, estupro e outros crimes hediondos preenchem essas páginas e as descrições podem ser assustadoras e até enjoativas, mas o mistério e os personagens são interessantes o bastante para fazer você continuar a leitura até o final.
Gostei muito da escrita da Tess, as suas descrições e, principalmente, o ponto de vista do assassino; esse foi um ponto certeiro. E eu realmente me cansei um pouco do livro do meio para o final, mas o epílogo foi o que faltava na história para deixar tudo ainda melhor e mais doentio. O que foi aquilo?

Ein sehr spannendes Buch, das in der Perspektive immer wieder wechselt... vom Opfer über die Polizisten bis hin zum Mörder. Vor allem die Einblicke in die Erinnerungen und Vorstellungen des Mörders sind sehr interessant. Man muss allerdings sehr deftige und detaillierte Beschreibungen von Morden und Operationen aushalten bzw. mögen. Für mich sind diese Stellen zwar gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber auch unheimlich mitreißend.

This is the first Rizzoli book, but Isles isn't in it. Then Rizzoli isn't the main detective, but it was a good story. I'm requesting the 2nd in the series, The Apprentice.
Because of course I never manage to read things in order, I ended up reading The Apprentice before I got my hands on The Surgeon. it was interesting that Rizzoli was not the main focus of this book and Isles didn't exist yet. it made this book feel like a prequel, but didn't diminish from the wow factor, if you will. I loved the style of writing and the edge of your seat suspense Gerritsen provides. she makes me want to dive back into murder mystery, a genre I haven't visited in many years

Loved loved loved the TV series so I decided to give the books a shot. Honestly the book made the hair on my arms stand up I was kind of scared reading it being close to Boston and have went to school there. But the long chapters took me longer than average to finish the book.

Amazing as always. Love the author and her works so definitely worth reading. One of my favourites by her.
