I haven't read any of Roald Dahls writings for older audiences, and I was pleasantly surprised by these stories! Each story was unique, yet sometimes followed the same beats with repetitive characters. Other than that, the book was hard to put down as some of the stories are short and sweet. I was a bit exhausted with the amount of stories in this collection, but ultimately they were worthwhile reads and I was barely ever bored of them.

I was expecting more from this book and it disappointed me.

Some absolutely fantastic and hilariously dark stories from Dahl. Very fun little pockets of amusement and intrigue. Although I loved these stories, the collection doesn't quite make it to 5 stars because some of them were just a little bit *too* weird for me ('Royal Jelly' mostly...)

I'd never read any adult Roald Dahl, but his children's writing was so masterful I thought his adult writing would be the same. This set of stories is crafted beautifully with a tinge of darkness about them. I love that the stories mainly end at the climax to leave you to imagine your own ending. A great weekend read.
