Cute story, likable characters. Interested to see the movie.

I really loved this book. The main character, Willowdean, was very relatable to be. I've struggled with a lot of the same body issues as her, but I applaud her for having the confidence to tell everyone to shove it and enter the beauty pageant in her small Texas town. I will definitely be reading the follow up novel.

This book was an absolute delight, and I would have gobbled it up in one sitting if I hadn't been at work. Willowdean is a wonderfully lovable narrator who is both tough and tender, and her story is as joyful and uplifting as it is poignant. While it's set in a small town in Texas, the characters are not the stereotypes you'd expect and it paints a deeper picture of a place that is as flawed as it is homey. Dumplin' will ring true for anyone who's felt out of place and uncomfortable in their own skin, but it's ultimately a tale of acceptance, both of your peers and yourself.

Fab-u-lous! Couldn't put it down.

Being a fat girl who doesn't have a face for beauty pageants, this book really moved me.

Sometimes it's not so much the story you fall in love with as the voice of the novel, and the voice of Willowdean makes you want to curl in and never leave.

This was well worth the time. As soon as I finished, I wanted to start over.
