I liked the writing but the incest relationship really weird'd me out and I just wanted it too go away, if it was a longer book I probably would have just stopped reading.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the prose. Banana Yoshimoto manages to capture a sense of dreamy yearning and loneliness. I also liked the elements of magical realism. But what's up with the incest jumpscare and the weird teacher-student relationship?
