The incestuous romance was unnecessary. As was teacher/ student relationship. Both off putting and didn’t really add anything to the story

This one came incredibly close to 5 stars. I’d like to consider it at 5 stars up until a certain plot point. The writing style was so dreamy I wanted to live in it. Def reading more Yoshimoto after my tbr. The only thing that docked the rating was the developments between Yayoi and Tetsuo… I don’t know man. Morally gray area for me, but leaning towards weird… and that’s putting it lightly. Truly would’ve loved this book without that relationship.
