🔸 Wildflower Cottage is a sanctuary to birds and animals owned by Heath Merlo in beautiful hamlet Ironmist. The sanctuary is in trouble as their lease is going to end soon. There is no way out on renewing the lease due to generations of enmity between Merlos and Leightons, who own the land. Vivienne Blackbird ventures to Wildflower cottage to work as an accountant and is not aware of this situation. Geraldine, the caretaker of the sanctuary welcomes her and within a short span of time, Viv and Gerry start sharing a special bond. Heath doubts Viv on her intentions as to why she has agreed to work for pittance with double the amount of work and what is she hiding. But no one knows, except Viv, what her hidden agenda is.

On a parallel note, there is another interesting story that features Stel, Viv’s mom, and her steadfast pals who call themselves Old Spice girls and support each other always through thick and thin.

💖 People following my feeds already know I am a Milly Johnson fan. Her writings directly strike a chord with you and you start rooting for the characters and emotions once you are halfway through the book. This book covers so many relationships like b/w Heath & Viv, Viv & Stel, Viv & Gerry, Stel and her friends - Linda, Caro, Gaynor and Iris. And with all this include in the affection and bonding for animals and birds, some mystery, last minute twists and turns and loads of humour and you get the book Sunshine over Wildflower Cottage.

I enjoyed reading this and would recommend you to give it a try if you are searching for a romcom.

This book has lots of short chapters, some only a couple pages, so I flew through it so fast

I somewhat enjoyed this book but it involved quite a lot of dark topics that I wasn't expecting, so that lessened my enjoyment. At times, some of the topics discussed were quite scary, not something I expected from this genre of book. Yes, they are important to be talked about, but I would have appreciated a content warning at the front of the book.

This book features domestic abuse , coercive control, alcohol abuse, child drowning and needing CPR, abandoning a child because they are disabled. I have marked the other spoilers in this book withmy review

Once in a while, when I get totally fed up with this dark world and feel all alone, I like to take a trip into one of Milly Johnson's Fantasyland, where people are kind-hearted and friendly to each other, and are still aloud to form communities (real ones, not social media ones) and families and support each other through thick and thin. I know in my head it's not real, but Ms. Johnson's so wonderful a writer that it feels like it is. Her characters feel like real people, and you care about them. You want them to have a happy ending and the baddies to get their comeuppance, which they do. It seems like Johnson enjoys writing, and has fun creating suspense and drama, heart-wrenching moments and moments in which you find yourself holding your breath, turning page after page as fast as you can to learn what happens next. This novel is a sweet and fun read, warm and compassionate, and if human beings are capable of this there may be hope yet for humankind.

So I was quite excited to start reading this book as I really enjoyed Teashop on the Corner. It was very easy to read and enjoyable in the layout of different characters and their stories. It was advertised as the perfect holiday read but I thought it was a bit too dark. Stel's storyline made me uncomfortable but I guess thats shows Johnson's great storytelling. It was good but not my favourite.

Sunshine Over Wildflower Cottage has all of the usual ingredients of a Milly Johnson book, but this one had a little more intrigue as to who characters really were and what their true motives were - and the reader is teased about these things at the end of practically every chapter! Why did Viv really go to Ironmist? Ian seemed off from his introduction (Stella should have stuck to her gut with the beady eyes thing). Geraldine had a secret. Heath was very mysterious. There were other revelations along they way, which when combined with Milly Johnson's engaging characters and writing style, make for another favorite .
