dystopia/dɪsˈtəʊpɪə/noun : an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one.
Before I talk about this novel I'd like to discuss about the dystopian genre in general . I associate dystopia mainly with young adult books (sorry!!) . Having read a slew of ya dystopian novels in the beginning , I've developed a particular notion concerning dystopia novels . But [b: The Running Man|11607|The Running Man|Richard Bachman|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1333160557s/11607.jpg|3652165] shattered it and scattered it on the ground .
The stark and brutal portrayal of a dystopian society by Mr. [a: Stephen King|3389|Stephen King|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1362814142p2/3389.jpg] is agonizingly realistic . The Running Man is about Ben Richards , a poor man whose daughter is afflicted with pneumonia . He enters into a reality show competition called The Running Man in which he has to survive for a month while the whole world hunts him .
This is a short novel . And the chapters are even shorter . Mr. King maintains the same pace throughout the novel . His writing style is plain but effective . And the thing I liked most in his writing were his descriptions . Mr. describes a scene so intimately that it feels the reader is living that scene .
The Running Man reminded me of [b: The Hunger Games|2767052|The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)|Suzanne Collins|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1447303603s/2767052.jpg|2792775] but more gritty . This is a great novel written by a literary genius . This also happens to be only my second S K read . So I'm looking forward to more of them .

This was a lot at times and sometimes King’s weirdness skeeved me out (you know the kind lol) but decent book. Ending was pretty dope imo
