This book is the perfect snappy plot-driven fantasy. As a lover of the movie I was pleased to find that it was a great adaptation of this book, however I really appreciated the added nuance around the ending.

I wanted to read the book because I love the movie so dearly. I think next time I’ll just rewatch the movie! It’s a faithful adaptation without the annoying stylistic choices the author made. I didn’t enjoy the premise that the author was abridging a novel (which is actually fake), it got old really quick and the author’s frequent asides did nothing for the flow of the story. But the characters and cheeky plot are just so delightful that it made it all worth it!
