I absolutely adore this book. The relationships between the characters gave the book so much personality, there was adventure and even some heartbreak, but overall the essence of hopefulness made the book well rounded and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed seeing everything unravel in the perspective of Elsa, lovely characters who all felt deep!

My grandma died when I was 12. She was my favorite person in the whole world. I did the audiobook for this one because it was recommended in an Instagram post for people who want the vibes of Marjorie by Taylor Swift and it really lived up to that expectation. Grieving as a child is so confusing and frustrating and no one knows what to say to you, and life also just has to go on and “everything will be ok” and this book really showed that. I am giving it 4 stars mainly because I got lost in some of the fantasy aspects, which may have been different if I didn’t do the audiobook!

I can tell this is a good book that I'd like, but the audiobook version was a poor choice for me! As a person who struggles with focusing on audiobooks, I found this to be a bit hard to follow, and I didn't entirely have a well rounded experience by the end. I definitely need to re-read this but through the print version. I love Backman's writing. There were particular moments that caught my attention and I liked them a lot. Backman is great at mixing whimsical fun, witty humor, and too-close-to-home relatability.

This book was so sweet- I teared up at the end! As always, Fredrik Backman is a masterful storyteller who makes all of the characters in his stories, however minor they may seem, sympathetic and three-dimensional. This story didn’t hit me as hard as his other books but I’m still glad I got to read it.
