Don't take this book too seriously. It's a light-hearted easy read with the miscommunication trope tied in. If you're looking for a book to bring you out of your reading slump, then this is the book (or any Julia Quinn books tbh)! As long as you don't take her books too seriously, you'll have a good time reading. All the characters are lovable and funny, with the main characters having a connection that builds as the book progresses.

This was really cute. JQ always has the best dialogue, I laughed out loud at several scenes.

I thought maybe Elizabeth might have spent a little too much time being upset during the climax of the book? I didn't think what James did was honestly that bad and he had reasons that he explained to her. She seemed a bit like the stupid heroine who flies off the handle at anything. But the resolution was great and I did love James and Elizabeth together.

This is the kind of romance novel I like - it doesn't take itself too seriously.
