Can’t go wrong when Italy is your setting. Everything was beautiful and I was DYING to be there. There were some beautiful reflections about a daughter and mother as well as on regrets and the choices we make.

i only wish i knew how it happened. i hated having unexplained sci-fi elements in what is otherwise a well written and deeply enjoyable story about the relationship between mother and daughter.

What even was that.

Spoiler? It happens quickly in the book.

I really am confused about the time traveling thing. Like there was no real entrance or exit from it, and somehow she actually experienced Italy 30 years prior to when she actually went? Then she just was back in the present? It would have been more believable if she like knocked herself out and dreamed it.

By 7 months, most infants realize that they are a separate being from their parents. This was a book about someone having that revelation 29.5 years late.

Maybe this book did hit for me because I don’t have a positive relationship with my own mother so I had a hard time connecting with the FMC. It just felt very disjointed and dull without having an emotional connection to her. I’m sure others would love this. It’s just not for me.
