Is Kate Bishop my favorite Hawkeye? Absolutely. And even though this is a fun solo series for Kate, I still miss the Kate and Clint dynamic from Fraction's amazing run.

The writing is tight, and makes Kate fun and relatable as she tries to establish herself and a new city, and build a reputation as a private investigator (and figure out if private investigators get a pass when it comes to murdering dudebro assholes who totally deserve to be. murdered). The art is a good complement to the story, and the covers are absolutely beautiful.

Thompson's stories are a huge improvement over the Lemire run, and Kate remains one of my favorite characters in Marvel. Still, I miss the days when it was the Hawkeye and Hawkeye show, and would love to see the two of them join forces again. Given the absolute mess of an event that was Civil War II, that seems unlikely. Still, there is always hope in comics.

I really prefer Kate Bishop to the male Hawkeye and I also love Kelly Thompson's comedic fun. Added to my list of comic series to continue.

Kate Bishop is a relatable hero: young, new in town, looking to make friends, trying to make bank. Plus she's super snarky. I'll definitely keep following this book.

2nd Tier Hawkeye

I like Kate Bishop Hawkeye but this is a poor 2nd tier book following on from Faction and Aja's run, like a cover version of a classic.

It's a mistake for both stories to feature a superpowered villain, when Hawkeye (of either gender) works so much better when dealing with "realistic" villains.

I live for Kate’s sass and strength; she’s a wonderful Hawkeye!

”I’m a super hero!”
“I thought you were a private investigator.”
“A person can be two things!”

I liked seeing her progression over the course of this graphic novel from someone feeling alone and struggling to having a group of friends to lean on and trust. I think the idea of being a “lone hero” can be really tantalizing but rather disappointing in practice.

I also like that Kate is unapologetically like Clint in so many ways - sassy, full of a desire to help, but sometimes landing in the territory of messing up because she tries so hard. I appreciate her being a more diverse personality compared to the usual hyper-sexualized women in comics, especially in hero comics. She’s just rad!

Also big appreciation for the diversity featured in here with LGBT+ rep (specifically a sapphic couple) and some of her new friends being Black. A nice mix of characters that feel real to the kinds of people she’d meet!!

Overall, Kate is quickly worming her way into my heart and I’m excited to keep following her story and learning more about her past.

While reading this whole volume late last night, I realized I had read it before. I kept going and absolutely loved it, even as I recalled plot points that were about to unfold.
