Probably the best Palahniuk I've read so far, except for Fight Club.
I got about 20 pages in and was so ill from reading this I had to stop. I can't tell if this was even more disgusting than previous Palahniuk I've read or if I've just lost my tolerance for it.
DNF. I got through a few stories. The pool story was predictable and just felt like a drag on a short story.
To me these stories were just gross and missing the interesting and grasping your attention. TO some this may be what you are into and what you find interesting. To me I was bored and felt like the stories were trying too hard to be gross and shock factor. It was not for me.

This had one of the most disgusting passages I have ever read. The story/plot was intriguing but ruined by trying to make it more interesting with shock value.
This book was interesting to say the least. The afterword was also pretty entertaining.
Probably my favorite Palahniuk book aside from Invisible monsters. I fell on love with this book on page 19. It's not often that I remember the exact page I fell in love with a book on, but it's something that never left me.
I am not particularly squeamish or easily shocked. I honestly nearly fainted at the end of the first chapter after the protagonist gets his bowels sucked out through his anus by a pump while wanking in the family swimming pool and has to free himself by chewing through his own intestines . Brilliantly written, really can't fault the author for how elquently horrible the first chapter is, but ultimately no desire to continue.
Graphic: Body horror, Gore, Injury/Injury detail
Gross, I DNF because I was grossed out. Is it appropriate for high school? Probably not. Should it be banned? No, it’s just a book. Like me, you can just choose not to read it.
