Most of the stories are meh. A few are downright sordid. Some are really quite good. I think there's something good here, buried beneath a lot of awful shit.

Going in knowing to expect gross and gore, I wasn’t particularly bothered by any of the content in that sense. However, I put this book down a lot of times with the intention of not bothering to pick it back up because I just found myself lacking interest. I did eventually get to the end just to see if it would get better.
“Guts” was the positive stand out for me but considering how early it is in the book that says a lot.
“Hot Potting” while not particularly gory also stood out but more for feeling like a long read despite being a short story.
I can’t say I particularly enjoyed any of the overarching story either. Perhaps I will try this again one day but I can’t foresee it being anytime soon.

Not sure what the heck I'm meant to think about this. Weird and horrific book. GUTS obviously the most popular story I'm guessing. Don't think I'll ever forget that story. I've actually made people just read that story. The stories are pretty damn unpleasant.

rough rough read. i probably would have finished it if i had a stronger stomach, but i dont, and i didnt. to be clear, this book is well written, with the descriptions being incredibly good and each character having a unique vignette. However. the gross. the “old” guy’s backstory was the point where i almost tapped out, and the story about old people fucking nasty while pretending to be homeless was where i did tap out. not for the faint of heart.
No girls i picked up this book thinking it was about ghosts and then started reading it on my lunch break. You can imagine my surprise! DNF because I didn't read the synopsis and was jumpscared by the gore so much I couldn't finish my sandwich.
