I'm just not feeling it. For me the stories are boring and it's dragging on and on and on. Guts was the only interesting one to be honest
At the beginning I hated the characters, loved them, wanted to hug them, cry with them, kill them, sympathize with them, it was so confusing. I felt sorry they're haunted by their past, sins, hopes and delusions.
Halfway through the book I got bored and wanted it to end, it got disgusting and weird, but I kept reading because the ideas were peculiar and out of the ordinary, until the end which was irrational and disappointing.
Still, the stories and the book is going to haunt me for a while.

Wasn't my favorite. It had good moments, but I was underwhelmed. It was a weird plot line with a weird ending.
3.5 stars. Some parts I didnt follow but I understood most of the short stories. Some were very funny. Others just sad. A good read!
Guts is not even the most disturbing story in here imo
It is grossly wonderful oh my god. I found the characters in this book hilarious, they self-sabotage and doing absolutely stupid thing to one another to reach their own (behind the camera truth). While, yes it is gross, vile, and disgusting, I only found two stories to be incredibly disgusting I squirmed inside the train I read this thing in (it's the saint gut-free and director denial). And oddly enough these characters antics made me laugh a lot it's just utterly dumb sometimes I can't help but to laugh.

The ultimate writer's retreat; a modern day Villa Diodati, where twenty writers are locked away and given three months to produce a screenplay, story or novel. They tell stories to each other, and since it's Palahniuk it's a pretty twisted bunch, with foot reflexology assassins, bigfoot hunters and other stories. The characters are pretty bland, and before their stories they're introduced with cringe-worthy poems. The stories read like Palahniuk's throwaway ideas, and after a while, they blend into each other. (The first story in the book, about a guy whose guts get sucked out by a swimming pool pump after he jerks off while sitting on it is the only one I remember.)
I can't deny the quality of the writing. Palahniuk is obviously skilled and probably made me feel exactly the emotions he intended to make readers feel. However, I did not enjoy a single moment of this book. It was too much for me.
