I want to give this 3.5 or 3.75 stars. Why can't GR do half stars??? Come on now.

I did really enjoy this book, a first in a new thriller/mystery series featuring Keye Street, private detective. I was afraid I wasn't going to like her character going into it because she was billed as this tough, no-nonense "type" but her voice in the novel was well done and I bought it completely.

The only reason I'd give it less than four stars is due to the fact that there were some editing issues (for instance, one character's name changed from "Ray" to "Roy" then back to "Ray") and I felt like the author revealed her main red herring too early for my taste. I had my suspicions about who the killer was fairly early, and to a certain extent, I figured out what was going on. However, I was blown away by a reveal on the very last page that I did not see coming! Wow. I love it when that happens.

I will definitely read the next in this series when it's published.

The protagonist Keye Street is compelling, but the crimes she is investigating are explicit, grisly, and gratuitous.

The Stranger You Seek is a very eerie, creepy, stalkerish kind of mystery, in which Keye Street gets through so many twists and turns it was impossible to figure out who the killer was.

Requested on NetGalley by Me
Overall Rating 4.25
Character Rating 4.25
Story Rating 4.25
Thrilling Rating (OMG End)=AWESOME!

NOTE: I really love Thrillers but they have to be done well in order for me to close the book with "WOW! Did that just happen?"! Since I refuse to give anything away--let me just say that The Stranger You Seek had me saying exactly that! Bravo on the ending Amanda Kyle Williams!

What I Love: Since I can't really talk storyline or twists/turns (which rocked the house), I am going to talk about some other things done really well in The Stranger You Seek. Pacing in a thriller is critical and this book is paced extremely well. You get caught up in the cat/mouse game and it never loses a beat. Character development was fantastically done and brilliantly executed. You guys know I am a fan of great endings and this one really knocked it out of the park. The whole book was just put together very well.

What I Liked: I really liked the inclusion of blogs, message boards, and a techy geek! They are all such important parts of our lives these days and it is really fun to see them written into stories. In this case, I don't think you can actually track killers anymore without someone who is technically savvy at gathering information. AKW did a great job of not minimizing that importance.

Complaints: None

Why I gave it a 4.25: Very good story with a conflicted leading lady and a very twisted killer! All the things a good thriller is made of :)

This book was my favorite female character for the year of 2014. It's on sale on amazon today (1-1-15) for 1.99!

I recently read the third book in this series and I loved it enough that I had to go back and read the others. This book is the first in the Keye Street series and I hope it's going to be a long set of books.
I adore this main character. She is tough without ever coming off as conceited. If nothing else she knows her weaknesses all to well.

And the degrees: criminology from GA Southern, doctoral studies at GA State in developmental psychology. And none of it, even with eight years at the Bureau, would earn me a real position with a law enforcement agency in this country. Not now. Drinking had changed all that. It entered my records as it tore away at my life and discredited me professionally forever. I couldn't even jump on the expert witness gravy train. Expert testimony requires an expert who can't be discredited on the stand. That's so not me. My closet is full of bones.

Keye had been part of the FBI's behavioral analysis before her sins caught up with her. Now she is bounty hunter/private investigator in lovely Atlanta with her cat White Trash.

The cast of characters in these books immediately became some of my favorites. I can't wait to see how these books go. They are thrillers and involve rape and serial killers, but the author mixes in humor when you least expect it.
This girl feed a FBI analyst pot brownies..that's how much awesomeness she is.

I think the only thing that bugged me with this book and it wasn't enough that I didn't love it was the fact that we don't need to know the sexual orientation of everyone in the story.

All in all 4.5 stars for this book. I'm glad I have the next one ready to go.

A good read about a serial killer in Atlanta. There are several characters you find yourself thinking he must be the killer but is he? It had me guessing until the end.

It took me a while to get into the characters but once I was about half way through it the rest was a very fast read.
