I think if I hadn’t needed to read this book in such a specific and regimented way, I would have been able to appreciate it and enjoy reading it more than I did. Still a good book with some good messages, though.

I read this for my A Levels and I hated it. It depicts Pashtuns as evil when in reality they are not. I feel like the rape scene was so forced like there was a need to have something tragic in there.
