I really wanted to like this book…. But I wasn’t a fan. From the blatant lesbophobia and problematic writing of women, queer women, and trauma to the all over the place pacing to the dislikeable/shallow characters and finally the abrupt ending it seemed like it was missing the mark. what sucks is this book had POTENTIAL and I believe the author was probably trying to do his best with inclusivity but he should’ve hired a diversity consultant or talked to actual women and lesbian women at that. Again you CANNOT convince me Lisbeth isn’t a nonbinary lesbian!! Mikael SUCKS. He’s so basic/boring/self obsessed…. Have we forgotten he has a legitimate child he’s probably neglecting.
I did enjoy the twist of Lisbeths backstory and her link to Zala- it was not what I thought it was- but it seemed like it came too late and there wasn’t enough time to explore that further
I would’ve also liked the theme and trauma of sec trafficking to have been told from the lens of the survivors, even Mia, but it seemed like an afterthought in the story.
