I zoomed through this because it was due at the library, and also it’s an easy book to zoom through. I’m not as much of an over- achiever as she is, but even when I couldn’t relate, she’s a good writer with interesting things to say. There were several essays that ended just when they were starting to get interesting, but also a few that were spot on. She rarely digs deep, skating over issues just when you’d like her to plunge in. But it’s an entertaining read and I enjoyed it.

Loved this month's Sisteread! I think I'd listen to Mary Laura Philpott read to me all day. I've got to find her other books in audio!

To me the theme was giving yourself grace in your life, and I really appreciated her view of living and making mistakes.

I still really liked this, but it didn't feel like being seen in the same way that Bomb Shelter did. Would be interested to read another one of her essays, if she publishes more!

There were many times in the beginning I was like “WOW this author and I really relate” but so much more “WOW I feel like this author would benefit from letting it go just a little bit.” It felt like parts were contradicting themselves and it became so overwhelming and un-relatable by the middle that I actually didn’t finish the book… something I really don’t do too often because I like seeing things through.
