This book was such an unexpected gem! I Miss You When I Blink is a book of essays by the author, Philpott. I reserved it at the library after I heard several people mention it and once it was checked out to me, I was sure I might enjoy it but I did not expect to cry, laugh, and scream, "SOLIDARITY!" while reading through the essays. Philpott has this magical way of sharing stories of everyday life in a way that made me feel less alone in my thinking and had me combing through my own memories finding the same posture toward life she encountered. Listen, I loved this book so much that after I read it, I returned it to the library and went out and bought a copy for myself. 5 stars.

This was one of the most relatable set of essays I’ve ever read - I felt like we, in many ways, live parallel lives. Her sense of humor is dry, the read was quick, and I’d highly recommend to other women.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. The worst part about it is it doesn't come out unil April, so I can't buy it for all my friends so they can read it and they can discuss. Highly recommended. Put it on your spring 2019 TBR list.

Thank you to the publisher and Edelweiss for the ARC.

Thanks to Librofm's program for booksellers, I listened to this funny, poignant and entertaining series of essays read by the author. While I am in no way as type A perfectionist as Mary Laura Philpott, I could identify with so much of her writing about 'normal' life - being a daughter, wife, mother, employee, book lover, and friend. Even though she 'had it all' and had checked all of life's boxes, she was feeling very discontented. I loved learning about a woman who had the courage to make a big life change which didn't involve tearing her family apart. An enjoyable read/listen!
