3.5 - I could see this being a really cute romcom movie. I enjoyed the story but didn’t love the main character until the very end. Was a little predictable but I didn’t mind that so much.

Not your typical romance novel. It reminded me a bit of "One Day in December," because of all the wrong moments. I don't usually like sudden time jumps back and forth, but I thought it was easy enough to follow since it revolved around New Years Eve across 30 years.
Overall, it was cute and there was good character growth shown across the year that it followed the characters.

Perfect read for NYE! Minnie and Quinn's lives have been intertwined since their mothers met while in labor New Year's Eve. Minnie grows up thinking her lifelong streak of bad luck on NYE is related to Quinn being born a moment before her, claiming both her name and a financial prize for being the first child born in the New Year. When they finally met at age 30, Minnie is sure that Quinn has led a charmed life, but it turns out not to be true in spite of his career success.
Told in alternating points of view and moving back and forth in time with a very satisfying ending, this was a great novel to read at the end of one year and into the next.

Such a cute story and some funny parts. A good easy read. If you like a hallmark movie vibe definitely read this.

Really cute story, really cute characters, really nice character arcs

Interesting story with some unique twists and turns. How many times do you get the chance to meet your true love, and would you even recognize them? Told during the present with flashbacks to past New Year ages and all the crazy , disappointing and near misses in our loves life. Fun, intense and at times thought provoking.

I was halfway through this book before I remembered that British “pies” are savory.

This book was well written and I liked it overall but it just got to be too long to the point where I was skimming the last 30 pages just to get it done. It is your typical story about a woman who thinks she wants to be with a guy who has commitment issues. Most of the book is about her business failure and her determination to make this guy Quinn love her. She finally decides that she doesn't need a man and comes to peace with it but then like the next day decides she wants to be with him which seemed really disingenuous. It ended with a typical Cinderella happy ending and I'm disappointed in that because I was really hoping that she decided to stay single and get to know herself better rather than running into the arms of the man she thought she was in love with. It was a cute little story but a disappointing ending.

Overall, I would say the story was interesting. I feel like the beginning was really good, but the end dragged a little bit. I was ready for it to be over. I am so glad that Minnie found herself and learned a bit of self-worth. I feel like we focused a little too much on Lela but overall I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone, and I think the reviews hyped it up.

I loved this book! I loved Minnie. I loved Quinn. I loved everyone in this book. Such a feel good book with depth. Now I want to go bake a meat pie.
