This book had so much potential. But in the end? I was very "meh" about it. The "meet cute" of our two main characters was fine, and the flashbacks to New Years past were a nice way of showing the reader a bit more about their characters. But in the end, a lot of those flashbacks and near misses for our hero and heroine didn't really pay off. And because of that the ending felt really rushed to me - and a bit too close to the ending of 27 Dresses if we're being honest.
This Time Next Year was wonderful. It was a slow burn British rom com. I loved the pacing of this book. It moved through an entire year with flashbacks to previous New Years Eves' that our characters have experienced.
Minnie and Quinn were both well developed characters with fleshed out back stories. They both have struggles that they need to work through separately and I loved that they had the space to do that in this book. There are charming secondary characters and I enjoyed the story of Minnie and Quinn's moms and how they supported each other.
It was just a beautiful book for me that hit all the right notes.

It just made me feel so happy while reading and hopeful and excited that things would work out. I loved the flashbacks giving us details of how they’ve crossed paths in the past without knowing and the ending was so cute, the last few sentences just made the book come full circle and I loved that. In the beginning I wasn’t sure how the book would go but the more I read the more I got involved in their love story and I was just dying to know what was going to happen next!!

Such a cute story about how two people who were born within a minute from each other find one another again on New Year’s Eve (their Birthday Eve). I really enjoyed Minnie and Quinn’s story because it wasn’t just about them. Their mother’s both get beautiful conclusions as well as her best friend and the people who worked for her at “No Hard Fillings.”
There’s a bit of timeline hopping in this book as we relive previous New Year’s Eve’s of both Minnie and Quinn – seeing where their lives intertwined and they didn’t even realize it. It was such a delight – and a holiday read – but not a Christmas read! Can’t wait to see what Sophie Cousens writes next – this was a delightful debut.
Also – I learned something about London. In the first few chapters they talk about waking up at 7:45 am on New Year’s Day, just in time to see the first sunrise of the year. I didn’t realize the sun rose so late in London during the winter. This week (shortest day of the year) it rises at 8:04 am and sets at 3:53 pm. How depressing!

This was very “invisible string” coded and i absolutely loved it. I loved watching their singular journeys and their journey to one another. It was cute and cozy and also deep and sweet.
