"Be a good companion to yourself and you will never be lonely."

Quinn and Minnie share a unique birthday and more kismet moments than they realize. Weighed down by the weight of past relationships, issues with parents, and perceived notions of bad luck, both Quinn and Minnie struggle with love. Vignettes of New Year's Eve experiences help define each character's story with shared moments snuck in unknowingly to Quinn and Minnie. I cheered for Minnie and grew to love Quinn (and their mothers). This was a surprisingly sweet, fun, uplifting read. 4 1/2 stars.

This whole book was mildly infuriating. I thought we had gotten passed the rom-com premise of pushing something more when someone establishes that they just want a friendship- for whatever reason.

Not my fave

Absolutely loved this one!

I purchased this book last year and was a bit hesitant to read it. I was worried I would be let down with a fluffy lack lustre romance. How wrong I was!

Life is change - if nothing’s changing, you aren’t living

This time next year explores the lives of two people who were born on the same day a few minutes apart. Quinn was the first baby to be born of the new year quickly followed by Minnie. Quinn won the prize money, the name and what appeared to be an easy life filled with everything a child could want. Minnie on the other hand became cursed on New Years and every year tried to avoid the celebration all together.

But on NYE leading into their 30th birthdays their two lives cross paths and the secrets and truths about each of their lives begin to unfold. Over the next year they keep running into each other but can not seem to work out their feelings and emotions towards each other.

Don’t cry about something you wouldn’t cry about in five years

This story had me literally giggling, crying and feeling all the feels. It was so heart warming and touching and I couldn’t get enough of it. Even though love stories never seem to play out this romantically in real life it is nice to keep us dreaming.

This time next year was full of little life lessons and inspirations and really explored the idea of being happy within yourself before worrying about brings others into your life.

Be a good companion to yourself and you will never be lonely

Definitely a 5 star for this one, can not wait to read Sophie Cousens next book!

I actually quite enjoyed this one. At first I was worried that I would DNF it because I didn’t like Greg or Leila or Minnie’s mom. But the story really did tie everything up and there was a lot of growth not only in the characters but also in their relationships. There were still some moments that didn’t gel as well as I would have liked. The back and forth timelines of the chapters were for the most part well done but a couple of them felt really out of place and not really connected to the current day story at the time. Also the fact that Minnie and Quinn didn’t really have a connecting moment until almost page 200. Like there were small things here and there, the biggest being the delivery route early on. But we didn’t really see them come together with a mesh of personalities fully until the zoo. And I think that’s because the story wasn’t really fully a romance in the end. It was a story about Minnie finding herself and her self worth. She just so happened to fall in love along the way.

Positively delightful
