This book was so lovely but then the ending was so rushed and abrupt. I liked how the time kept going back and forth.
This book was super cliche, but a much needed, light-hearted, fun read in the time of COVID.
A girl, Minnie Cooper (that is her real name) has almost impossibly bad luck every New Year’s Day (her birthday) to the point that she lost out on a prize the day she was born to Quinn. This has caused a lifetime of resentment for Minnie and her mom. Then Minnie meets Quinn again and keeps bumping into him. Will Minnie be able to get over her resentment?
This book is a fine read. This is more for if you’re in the mood for a Hallmark New Year’s Eve (complete with an insecure female baker who’s a little ditzy and everything (seriously why are there so many Hallmark movies featuring this type of character?)). The main characters and the plot are pretty predictable. They did add a little spice into the book with one of the characters having some serious anxiety. I also found the relationship between the two moms to be interesting. Although, Other than the background story (Quinn “stealing” Minnie’s name, prize, and luck), the rest of the story isn’t that unique. That is not to say that one cannot enjoy this book. You just need to go into it knowing that it’s predictable.
I would suggest this to anyone who likes Hallmark, the typical romance novels, quirky characters, and opposite attracts romances.

Quinn and Minnie. Born at the same hospital on the same day. Minnie is a chef/baker who seems to have the worst luck on New Year’s Eve. Quinn seems to have an idyllic life until you meet his mom, Tara.
The book starts off with our two MCs meeting on New Year’s Day and we follow them throughout a year, with various jump cuts back to previous NYEs.
He’s never seen commitment and doesn’t allow himself any relationships. She’s got a bitter mom, a flighty dad, an absent brother and an amazing friend and co-workers.
If things aren’t changing, you aren’t living.
There’s chemistry between them but they’re easily spooked. Most of the story is all the reasons why they can’t be together.
But, HFN in the last 5 pages.

This one got me from the very start. Even though I was in a doctor's waiting room. Interesting tale of two people who share a birthday and how that matters. Interesting characters, just off-beat enough to pull you in without being exhausting. Lots of British charm. Laughs and tears, too.
