DNF for now. This just isn't catching my interest. Might revisit in the future.

Picking up after the Silver Prince leaves Havenfall, it’s no surprise to see Maddie is desperate to pick up the pieces and restore her sanctuary to its former calm. With her uncle Marcus recovering, Maddie is determined to try and ensure their plans for a new world will be able to come to fruition.
Unfortunately, things don’t go smoothly and Maddie soon finds herself in a terrible situation. Forced to reconcile her love of Havenfall with her yearning for a family unit, she is forced to make some very tough decisions.
Although I’d read Havenfall fairly recently, it was useful to start with something of a summary to remind us of the specifics of their situation. We find ourselves following Maddie as she learns new things about many of those closest to her.
I wasn’t wholly surprised to see some characters forming a crucial part of events in this book, but at the back of my mind I couldn’t help think that elements were rather rushed and disappointed that we got little resolution in terms of some of what seemed to be such integral parts of the story.

Maddie, Brekken, and crew are at it again—protecting Havenfall and the worlds it can lead to, all while also looking out for family and trying to stop the silver trade. I enjoyed expanding our view of the Havenfall world and meeting new faces, both familiar and not. Also, seeing Maddie start to come into her own was lovely. Definitely enjoyed this sequel!

A sad conclusion to Maddie’s story. This easily could have been a 400 page story. It was rushed, forced, and so many tethers are left undone.

This review has spoilers so warning if you haven’t read Havenfall yet!

After reading Havenfall and being left with that ending I was so excited for the sequel. Now that I’ve finished Phoenix Flame I have to say that I didn’t love it as much as the first book. Which *sigh* is so sad.

So I’m going to start with what I liked.
- The whole Phoenix Flame armor idea was very cool.
- Still enjoyed the magic system and since I haven’t been handling fantasy well lately..it was nice to read something that wasn’t too complicated but still enjoyable
- Brekken is in this book more and he’s definitely my favorite character so course I loved that haha
- We got to learn a little more about the different world and even got to travel to one so that was interesting

What I didn’t liked
- Geez this book felt like it was rushed. I felt like this book could have been longer or Havenfall should have been a much longer standalone.
- The love triangle...if you could call it that. more like a crush triangle between Maddie, Brekken and Taya was just weird and kinda over done/ unnecessary.
- Also did not like the ending and felt like a few plot points were not answered at all.

So I didn’t hate it but i didn’t entirely love it either. I just wish that the book wasn’t as rushed as it was.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance digital copy of this book!

Seriously nothing resolves with the relationships... slow moving... and despite the short length - I felt utterly bored and not interested in these characters whatsoever. I nearly didn't finish but thought maybe the end would pick up with something super exciting - maybe a plot twist - surprise reveal. Not so. And SO many unresolved loose ends. I wouldn't recommend this series, despite the first book setting up a very interesting premise with potential.

I read this quickly and I already forgot the characters. Nothing left an impression a week later.

I liked the overall plot and the world and elements were cool and interesting but the ending didn't really work for me. I had high hopes that this would have ended differently, had more of an ending? I'm a bit disappointed in the end.
