I think I’m in the wrong class — the book wasn’t bad, it just discusses a lot of feminist and Marxist theory that I knew nothing about. I thought I could fake it until I made it; I was incorrect. This is not for people unfamiliar with Marxist and Foucauldian theory.

This was the primary text for a not-for-credit 6-week intensive course I went through called The Burning Times Never Ended. It significantly influenced my understanding of the world as it is now, seeing the same tactics used in the present day by the dominant caste to prevent revolt or autonomy from the lower castes. The additions Federici's scholarship makes to Marxist critiques of capitalism are crucial.
I admit I did not read the book in its entirety, due to the sheer density of the material. I would like to tackle it a second time in the near future. Wish there were an audio book version of it but I doubt we'll ever have that available.

I can't believe it took till 2004 for somebody to cogently critique Marx's idea of primitive accumulation to include the reproductive aspects of womens bodies and the market excluded work they do in maintaining a home. Argues forcibly for the continuing and ever-present violence of capitalism.
